My Best Friend

The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Funk rock at its finest with one of the greatest bassists of all time, a drummer who has way too much fun, a guitarist with amazing skill, and a singer who is...lonely? That's the message he conveyed in their song Under the Bridge. For three years he had abstained from alcohol and that made him feel lonely because he was excluded from the other band members "drinking parties." In his depression he remembered back when he was dating Lone Skye and instead of spending time with her, he was was under a bridge doing drugs with gangsters. He said that at this point he felt like the only friend he had was his home city of Los Angeles and that's why he wrote Under the Bridge. The song is a bit different than their usual style, and that's what worried Kiedis the most. To his surprise, when it was introduced to the band, they immediately picked up their instruments and started working on the chords and rhythm. Check it out:      Until next time, roll the Mellow Dice and hope for Midnight.
