Story Time!

Hello my friends, Stephen here and congrats! you all get to see my first ever blog post. "Woot!" Alright... so my song story will be over,"Gallows Pole" by Led Zeppelin, it is taken from the "Maid Freed from the Gallows" which is themed in many folk songs. So basically it's a story of a Maiden (who is a young unmarried girl) tries to buy some time for here lover to come rescue her. While doing so she bribes her executioner with gold, silver, and sometimes here sibling/body for freedom. Normally it typically end with her death(But hey< We'll see what happens!)...now that you know some history, let us focus on the song. In this version, the main character is male. It starts out with the singer, Robert Plant, repeating the word, "Hangman" which is interesting because that's how most of the folks songs start out with(Didn't see that coming), anyways we jump a few lines and we find that the singer is bribing his executioner with gold/silver(Also didn't see that coming) that hopefully his "friend" will bring, but later we find out, that his friend broke(some friend he is). Then the singer tries buy some time by saying,"there my brother he has some gold". Well his brother didn't have very much gold, So you know what that means...keep pressing on with the execution (Woot!). So as a last stitch effort be basically just tries to pimp out his sister(Who is apparently rather beautiful) Yep, let this be a life lesson for you...when all else just pimp out your sister to save your life (Sarcasm). Anyways to continue on, the executioner actually takes the sister, but still hangs him... What a bright and colorful story and it ends in such a wonderful way!(Sarcasm). But with all honesty this was a well written song and the lyrics seem to pop! out at me. I really enjoyed how the writer brought out this oldish feel and adapted it to another time period. Here is the link to the song: http://youtu.be/uJg-ZmHV4E0

So with out any other conclusion, Thank You and I hope you enjoy my little Blog!
